This April I commissioned Ruby Pluhar and Ella Pavlides to shoot our new 2019 collection in the Scottish Hebrides, a group of islands off the west coast of Scotland. Ruby who took the photos has just graduated from Glasgow School of Art in Fine Art Photography and Ella who modelled and styled the shoot, graduated from Camberwell School of Art in photography in June 2018. They are best friends, full of energy, not scared of wild, cold weather and have spent a lot of time doing creative projects in the Hebrides, so know some of the islands inside out. They were the perfect team.
Travelling to the Hebrides:
The best time of year to visit the Hebrides is May & June for long daylight hours, wild flowers and birdlife. September is also a lovely time of year. These months have the most settled weather.

I have spent a lot of time in the Hebrides throughout my life and still spend every spare minute there. My mother went to Glasgow School of Art. She was a landscape painter and we spent every childhood holiday on these islands, where she would paint all day and my brothers, my dad and I would be left to our own devices.
Each island has its own unique character. It’s a very peaceful, undisturbed place with the most incredible nature, fresh air and sense of space. The weather can be quiet and gentle or wild and furious and it's common to get stuck there for days on end during high winds when the boat or plane can’t get in. My idea of heaven.
It is where all our knitwear is tried and tested for warmth and durability and I love the contrast of our bright colours and pattern against the natural landscape.
